Situational Communication Coaching

What is this?

This is an 8-week, one-on-one coaching engagement focused on developing professional communication judgement.

It is designed for international professionals who already speak English well, but want to communicate more intentionally and strategically at work, especially in meetings and other high-visibility situations.

This work is not about English fluency, confidence, or sounding more polished. It is about learning how to interpret professional situations accurately and respond with judgement.

Who this is for

This coaching is for you if you:

• Are a first-time manager, team lead, senior IC, or independent professional

• Have responsibility, but not full authority

• Regularly participate in meetings where credibility, influence, and judgement matter

• Often realise after a conversation what you should have said or done differently

• Want to understand the reasoning behind effective professional communication, not just copy phrases

This coaching is not for you if you:

• Are looking to improve your English language skills

• Want scripts, templates, or message rewriting as the main service

• Prefer confidence coaching or emotional processing over analytical work

• Want quick fixes without reflection or practice

The problem this addresses

Many capable professionals struggle at work not because of their ideas, but because of how their communication is interpreted.

This often shows up in situations like:

• Meetings where it’s unclear when or how strongly to speak

• Managing up without knowing how direct to be

• Trying to gain buy-in without sounding pushy or hesitant

• Communicating your value without over-explaining or underselling

• Being perceived as unclear, overly cautious, or overly strong

These are not language problems. They are judgement problems — problems of interpretation, timing, and signalling.

We work with real situations from your professional life.

Each session focuses on:

• Analysing a specific interaction (past or upcoming)

• Understanding the context, stakes, and power dynamics

• Identifying the communication options available to you

• Choosing an intentional strategy — and understanding its tradeoffs

You learn how to think through situations before you speak, rather than relying on instinct or hindsight.

Format:

• 8 weeks

• One 60-minute session per week

• Live, 1:1 sessions

• Situation-based and applied (not a generic curriculum)

Drafts or messages may be used as evidence, but the focus is always on decision-making, not editing.

By the end of this engagement, you will be able to:

• Read professional situations more accurately

• Decide when to speak, how strongly, and in what direction

• Contribute in meetings with clarity and intention

• Manage up and negotiate buy-in more strategically

• Communicate your value without over-explaining or underplaying it

• Recover more quickly when something doesn’t land as intended

Most importantly, you will have a repeatable way of thinking you can apply independently.

The structure of the work

While each engagement is tailored, the work generally follows three phases:

1. Situational calibration (Weeks 1–2)

We examine how you currently interpret professional situations, where misjudgements tend to occur, and establish a shared framework for analysis.

2. Decision-making under pressure (Weeks 3–6)

We work through meetings, influence conversations, and visibility moments, focusing on strategic choices and their consequences.

3. Transfer and independence (Weeks 7–8)

We consolidate patterns, speed up your judgement, and prepare you to apply the framework confidently on your own.

What this is not

This is not:

• A language course

• A leadership training program

• A collection of communication tips

• On-demand message editing

This is thinking work — practical, demanding, and transferable.
